Run!

Goodbye 2011. Hello 2012. How did we do it? We ran.

The usual program would be, meet at Macritchie, run to so-and-so’s house, reach there before  midnight. Countdown and feast. A great/interesting/different way to end the year and begin another. Ok, ‘great/interesting/different’ is subjective.

31 Dec 2011.

Each year, dear chairman Rose (of Rose Running Club) tries to keep it fresh by varying the route and destination. This year we started our run on the last night of 2011 from Novena/Velocity at 2010hrs, meandered through Balestier, Lavender, Kallang, Fort Road, ECP, Kembangan, Siglap, and finally ending it off at Tampines at 2250hrs.

Of course, you can bet on a few many grunts and grumbles here and there. Especially when you let the ironmen/ironwomen lead the run (?!?!?!?) Bad choice! But,overall, the 19km was moderately paced, with lots of toilet and water breaks (for the laggards like me!). We made it in good time, enough for us to shower, smell normal and feast on home-cooked food (although not necessarily in this order). And get down to the countdown. Many thanks to Kenny and Chris for hosting and preparing the oh-so-delicious-home-cooked-food-that-was-still-talked-about-days-after to feed the ravenous runners.

It’s great to hang out with the people who carried you through an eventful year and whom you can count on to see you through many more years to come.  THANK YOU! You know who you are.

The new year is looking good indeed.
